Do not driveMinutes
J1939 code SPN 122. Below — how the fault is worded at the factory by Renault Trucks and ZF AS-Tronic, and what the second half of the code (FMI) means in the standard.
| FMI 0 | Mechanical fault of the small disengagement solenoid valve. Repair: Run the diagnostic check of the clutch actuator. Check the clutch. Switch the ignition off, switch it on again and repeat the test. If the fault persists, replace the control unit. |
| FMI 9 | CAN data bus link to EECU. Repair: Check the continuity of the CAN bus connected to the EBS unit (X1/1, X1/3). Check that the engine control unit is connected and works correctly. |
ZF AS-Tronic uses its own fault numbering: the number in the table below is an internal ZF code, not a J1939 SPN. It matches the title of this page by digit only and means something different.
| FMI 0 | Mechanical fault in valve Y15. |
| SPN 122 FMI 0122/0 · 122.0 | data above normal range (most severe level) |
| SPN 122 FMI 9122/9 · 122.9 | abnormal update rate |
Do not drive. Stop as soon as it’s safe to do so — don’t keep going.
Part of the brake circuit or ABS/EBS is out of service. The pedal may still feel normal — until the first emergency stop or descent.
Next comes longer stopping distance, a skid on a slick surface, failure on a long downgrade. This is the case where "I will take it slow" does not work.
Let the air system build to working pressure and listen for leaks. Don’t drive with faulty brakes.
