SPN 61 is a manufacturer number outside the standard J1939 table: different makes can put different things under it. Below — how it is worded by Renault Trucks and ZF AS-Tronic, and what the second half of the code (FMI) means.
| FMI 8 | PTO sensor fault (the control unit receives a PTO engaged message while PTO control is not active). Repair: Check the cab switch that engages the power take-off. Check the wiring between the Astronic and the component (X1A/9). Check the PTO solenoid valve (40 ohms < R < 50 ohms) and its sensor. Run the diagnostic check of the VECU electronic unit. Check the parameters. Switch the ignition off, switch it on again and repeat the test. If the fault persists, replace the control unit. |
ZF AS-Tronic uses its own fault numbering: the number in the table below is an internal ZF code, not a J1939 SPN. It matches the title of this page by digit only and means something different.
| FMI 8 | Fault while disengaging power take-off 1 (PTO1). |
| SPN 61 FMI 861/8 · 61.8 | abnormal frequency or pulse width |
Safe to drive. Below — how much time you have and what happens if you keep going.
A standalone fault with no immediate consequences for driving.
