MAN fault codes

The reference covers 107 codes from the factory tables of MAN — the full list by system is below, stop-now codes first.

Codes that mean stop now

cooling — 1 codes

fuel — 2 codes

AdBlue / exhaust — 4 codes

power supply — 1 codes

CAN bus — 1 codes

brakes — 13 codes

transmission — 6 codes

other — 79 codes

How to read a code

A code has two halves. SPN is what is actually at fault — the sensor, component, or parameter. FMI is what is wrong with it — value out of range, open circuit, short circuit, invalid data. So “SPN 100” alone is not a diagnosis yet, but “100/1” already tells you oil pressure has dropped below normal.

If there are several codes at once

That is almost always how it goes: one fault drags five or six codes behind it. An empty AdBlue tank first throws a level error, then interrupted dosing, then a NOx excess and a torque derate. Fix the root cause and the rest clear on their own. Paste the whole list — we will show which code is the root cause.

MAN code examples

00228RAS: Speedometer speed and sensor
01068EBS: Service brake module signal 2 (falling)
03066EBS: Powertrain CAN bus: timeout receiving message EEC2 from EDC; ECAS: CAN bus: message ECAM_1; EDC: Time since start; EHLA: Steering angle sensor, front axle, track 2; FFR: CAN bus: timeout receiving message EDC5
03217ECAS: 3/3 solenoid valve, second lift axle, raise or lower
03830EDC17: NOx sensor timeout downstream of the exhaust aftertreatment (exhaust pipe); EDC7: Misfiring. 4-cylinder engine cylinder 1; 6-cylinder engine cylinder 1; 8-cylinder engine cylinder 5; 10-cylinder engine cylinder 6; 12-cylinder engine cylinder 12
04061EDC17: CAN message EDC4 (charge air temperature)
04224EDC17: Exhaust gas temperature 4 implausible compared with the modelled value
04382EDC17: Deliberate opening of the pressure relief valve
04519EDC17: HCI fuel pressure sensor downstream of the injector
04702DIW5: CAN message EEC1, actual engine torque signal on the CAN bus
05223ZF EcoLife: Clutch D pressure regulator short to ground
05405ZF EcoLife: EEC3 signal missing or invalid
05618PTM: CAN bus signal "Brake Application Pressure High Range, Front Axle, Left Wheel"
05798PTM: Timeout ACCvehicle2

Know the code number? Type it into the search — or paste the whole list from the scanner and we will show which fault is the real one.
